Here you'll find bi-weekly newsletters with information about upcoming events, classroom activities and projects, field trips, school events and other pertinent information. This will be one of my main ways of communicating what is going on in my classroom so as to not clutter your inboxes.
Good morning!
A BIG thank you to those parents who donated apples and pumpkins to our math and science activities these last few weeks! :) The students really enjoyed the different 5 Senses activities we did with both items.
A few things to note this week and next week:
Today (11/10): Please submit any Scholastic orders by 3 p.m. today. The class code is: MH92H. http://www.scholastic.com/bookclubs I want to make sure the books arrive before Thanksgiving break.
11/12: We will be starting Drama since it is the 2nd trimester! :)
11/14: The class will be going to the BCS Library for the first time! We will be learning how to find, check out, and return books. Your child will have the opportunity to check out books and bring them home. They will be due back December 5th.
11/19: Report cards and FLGs will be going home this day. Every child has made tremendous growth and we still have two trimesters to go! The skills outlined on the report card are goals for the END of the school year. That said, please DO NOT be alarmed if you see that your child has a 1 or a 2 on certain standards (a 3 is approaching proficiency and a 4 is proficient). We continue to work on these skills throughout the year. It is completely normal to have not attained proficiency at this point in the year. There are also skills that we have not covered yet. These are marked with an * asterisk.
The report card and FLG document will be inside an envelope. What's inside the envelope? • TWO copies of your child's FLG document • ONE copy of your child's 1st Trimester Report Card
What needs to be returned the following Monday? • ONE signed copy of the FLG document. Please sign and return the copy with my signature on it. (the other is for you to keep at home) • The envelope that everything comes in requires a parent signature on the outside
What stays at home? • Your child's Report Card • ONE copy of the FLG document.
Good afternoon parents! Here is our class newsletter! You can read all about what we have been learning the last two weeks and see some picture from our field trip yesterday!
Here are a few things to note:
The BCS Library (*this information has been updated from the info in the newsletter)
BCS is looking for parent volunteers for our library that is opening the week of November 10th. Our class will be going to the library every other Friday from 11:00-11:30 a.m. If you are able to help sign up to volunteer during our Friday times, please contact the library lead at jwellsakis@gmail.com.
Please read through our newsletter this week to find out more information about our global citizenship unit on pandas and our unit on community helpers. Just a reminder that nn October 22nd, we will be going on our 2nd field trip to DeMartini Market. This will support our learning about farmers and tie into our next unit on pumpkins and apples.
We had a really good time at the fire station and even got to see the fire truck drive away on an emergency call! It was very exciting!
