The students had a great time being a part of all of the Halloween festivities! One of the neat opportunities on Halloween was that each kindergarten class performed an October poem in front of the sixth grade classes. Our class learned a poem called "October Song". I wanted to let you know of a really awesome opportunity! Over the summer I submitted a donorschoose.org project that I'm hoping will get funded by family, friends, and students' parents before November 2014. Donorschoose.org is an organization that lets teachers post projects/items they would like for their class and is a website that people can go and donate to. All donations are tax deductible.
I decided to set up this project this summer because I want my students this year to have another resource, such as iPads, to help them learn core subjects and standards. I also feel that iPads are a developmentally appropriate and kids this age are really familiar with.
Yesterday, I got an email from donorschoose.org that Bill & Melinda Gates will fund the other 1/2 of my project if I get half of the donations myself. iPads are expensive and this would be a much faster and cheaper way to get all the iPads. I need to raise 1/2 of the funds by TOMORROW (8/24) though. It is a 3-day promotion they're doing.
Please don't feel pressured that you have to donate! I just wanted to let parents know about this really amazing opportunity if you wanted to get involved. There are also many other great projects on their website you can donate to as well.
